We will now break down the last part of the outline on Pursuing The Commitment. We need to make sure our prospect is ready to move on before we do this. We can ask our prospect "Does this make sense to you?" This will let us know if they have a general understanding of what we have just presented to them. If they have a positive response, with the aid of the Holy Spirit you can move to the commitment portion. If you get a negative response, you will need to go back and clear things up. Progress again to the point where you are ready to move into the commitment.
You are now asking your prospect to receive the free gift you have shared with them.
The answers to this question will vary greatly beginning with "yes" and going to "I don't know". If the answer is yes, then continue on to the next part. Some other most common answers that you may hear are "I'll do it later, some other day, I'm not sure that I am ready". Usually no one says no.
If you get the put off answer, it would be a good time to assure them that others have felt the same way that they do. There may be another part of your testimony that you would choose to share at this time. Then ask the question again. Of course you want to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. There have been times that I have backed up and gave another testimony, illustration or part of the outline then asked the question, repeating this process over and over. This is not a time to give up easily.
Our goal is not just to go out and get a bunch of false professions. The R's help us and the prospect to see truly what needs to be done.
Realize all have sinned. Are you willing to repent of sin? Explain that repent means to be sorry for the sin that you have done. God will not save anyone who is not willing to repent.
Recognize Jesus as Lord. Will you let him be the Lord of your life. Truly Jesus wants to be put first in every life. This is a good time for them to make a commitment to put Jesus first.
Receive the resurrected saviour. Will you ask Jesus to come into your life and save you. God will not save anyone who is not willing to invite him in. Jesus does not come in uninvited.
Let us pray.
I will lead us in prayer. During your time in leading them in prayer cover the three R's again. After the prayer, ask them if they feel like God has saved them. Show and explain John 6:47 to them, then make a appointment for a follow up visit. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
