2. Gates - moveable structures that guard the openings - obstruct
3. Strategically placed to be both:
a. Easily accessible
b. Easily defendable
4. New Jerusalem - 12 gates - 3 per side
a. No moveable structures for defense
5. The Gates were the main places of attack

1. Satanís Deception - vs 11 - "Wiles"
a. 2Th 2:1-3, 7-10 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; ..... For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2. Satanís Devices - vs 12

a. He Attacks The Believer - Lu 22:31-32 And the Lord said,

b. He Attacks The Preacher - Zec 3:1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
c. He Attacks The Church - Mt 13:39 The enemy that sowed
them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

a. Arm Your Mind by Girding It - 1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up
the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
b. Arm Your Mind Through Prayer - 1Pe 4:7 But the end of all
things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
c. Arm Your Mind Through Holiness - Ro 13:11-13 And that,
knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
d. Arm Your Mind Through Watchfulness - 1Th 5:6-7
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
