Places where the versions differ
in the New Testament.

MATTHEW 1:25

King James:         And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn  son: and he called his name JESUS.

New King James:     and did not know her till she had brought forth her  firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.

American Standard:  and knew her not till she had brought forth a son: and he  called his name JESUS.

Living Bible:       but she remained a virgin until her Son was born; and  Joseph named him ``Jesus.''

(It is interesting that the same manuscript is used in the ASV, NIV, RSV  and other versions than the KJV and they differ in so many places.  It makes me wonder what is the purpose.  Why are there so many variations between these supposedly better translations?)

 

MATTHEW 5:44

King James:         But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that  curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them   which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

New King James:     "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse  you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

American Standard:  but I say unto you, love your enemies, and pray for them  that persecute you;
